Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar

We had been given a gift card to Bâton Rouge and decided to try out the Kanata location this evening. We have been here before, but not in many years. We arrived at 5:00 and were seated promptly, without having reservations. Scott was our server. He was personable and attentive and did a great job. The menu here, unfortunately, does not indicate gluten-friendly items, but in consultation with Scott I decided on the Atlantic salmon with seasonal vegetables and a baked potato. My husband had the BBQ pork back ribs with fries. He said his meal was good. The reason for a less than 5-star rating includes: the very flat and watery Pepsi 🙁; the cold seasonal vegetables that came on my plate; the very tough (?) skin on the baked potato (I never complain about potatoes… they are my absolute favourite food); and the very cold (we both kept our winter jackets on for our meal) air that enveloped the area where we were sitting. Other than that, the experience was good and I did enjoy my salmon. Unsure about returning…

The food and service were amazing. We were well taken care of with the staff checking in at regular intervals. They also gave good suggestions on what to order. Service was also quick. Enjoyed the experience!

The food was top notch. Had the steak one night then came back and had some crazy good ribs that just fell off the bone. Both bartenders were attentive and friendly. Strongly recommend.

We went, as a family, on a Saturday night after 8pm. The place was dead for a weekend. And dark, this is more likely a date night restaurant and not a family restaurant. The food was disappointing. I ordered the mushroom chicken, which looked good on paper, but in real it was swimming in gravy, salty, and the chicken was dry and flavorless (I’ve posted both photos: from the menu and of my plate). The other people in my party also complained their food wasn’t the best. I also tasted the chicken tenders, and they were like 70% batter. Wasn’t worth the cost. Funny enough, I’ve been to another location, and the food was nothing like this, so because of that, I’ll give this location another try. Especially I see they have a new menu coming on April 23, which looks more exciting, so I hope the food will be better. I’ll provide an updated review then.

The restaurant was above and beyond. On entrance the decor is cozy and elegant. The red and wood were just right with the lights.
The crowd were on their 30’s and above. The waiters were very nice and friendly, our waitress was Britney. She was amazing and her advices were so good and knowledgeable. Every detail, every salsa and her choices were delicious.
The variety of food was big. Those are some of the dishes that we ordered. We loved it. And will be one of our favourite places.
By the way, don’t hesitate to give them a call and book a table, even if the website shows that it’s fully booked. They will find you a spot for your party.
