Food is very delicious. All made in house, including pasta. Enjoyed pizza Alessandro and Roberto.
Pasta Fettuccine Primavera, Penne Pasquale, Spaghetti Carbonara and special Ravioli stuffed with mushrooms and amazing creamy truffle sauce.
Appetizers Carpacccio and Fried Ravioli which had generous cheese filling mozzarella and ricotta.
Very good selection of desserts, loved tiramisu and Nutella cake.
Lots of daily specials with great selection of ingredients. Love the culinary take on the dishes.
Highly recommend. Will be coming back.

We weren’t seated in the best spot, tables are really small and narrow near the wall, the interior feels gloomy and dark. We ordered the shrimp linguine for $29 and the homemade lasagna for $28. The food was okay. Overall, the place tries to be a higher-end restaurant, but the food, service, and atmosphere are just regular for Ottawa

I went to Fratelli Kanata on a Friday night expecting a casual Italian meal with good service and left underwhelmed. The pizza was totally forgettable. It was flat in flavour and texture, more Costco than trattoria. I won’t get into my guest’s linguine pescatore… It looked DOA, reeked of heavy garlic, and with what was seafood that came from a frozen bag somewhere.

What really stood out was the service. I ordered a kale Caesar to share with my guest. Instead of bringing one salad and an extra plate (we already had two side plates sitting empty at our table), the server split the salad into two individual bowls and added a $2 “splitting fee” to my bill. I hadn’t asked for it to be divided, and we were perfectly capable of doing that ourselves. When I questioned it, the staff did remove the charge without issue, but honestly, it shouldn’t have appeared in the first place.

When a restaurant starts itemizing hospitality, it cheapens the experience. Between the mediocre pizza and the nickel-and-dime mentality, Fratelli Kanata doesn’t live up to the reputation its name suggests. There are better Italian spots in Ottawa that actually understand service and value.

I have been to this restaurant twice and both times I had a very good experience. The staff is very friendly and service was very efficient. The dining room is a bit too dark. We went on a Friday night and it can get really busy and a bit noisy, but this doesn’t really bother me too much. They brought some bread before the food came, but no butter ( to my husband’s disappointment), just some olive oil and balsamic. Food was ok, portions were generous. I had the gnocchi gorgonzola the first time we went and second time the tortellini nonna and both meals were good (though the gnocchi was better in my opinion). Both times we had the classic tiramisu and it was really delicious.
They have a good selection of wine but a bit pricey.
It makes for a really nice date night.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. The service was excellent. They were very busy when we went in but it did not affect the great service. The table of four ordered 4 different dishes and each one was fantastic. Great gluten-free free options as well.
Only complaint would be the volume but when we were there was a birthday party on the second floor. So that affected the overall noise level.
