We went as a group of 5 in October 2025 for their prix fixe menu; automatic gratuity was added due to our group size, leading each of us to have paid over $300 after tax + gratuity.

The service was very good, with our server being very attentive to our needs, an explanation of each course prior to serving, and our table cleaned between courses.

Unfortunately, everything else was terrible. For haute cuisine, our chairs were uncomfortable and gaudy clear plastic. We sat with three tables pushed together; they were misaligned and two were at an angle. The walls of our dining area were ugly metallic walls, and generic pop music played just a tad too loud. I get they were going for a raw modern industrial style, but it did not come together at all, and just felt cheap and tacky.

The food itself was just not good. A tasting menu is supposed to be just that, exploring different tastes and textures. However, our $250 7-course menu repeated flavors multiple times; notably butter, black lime, smoke, and rare red meat. Many textures were also off putting, such as foamy green Thai curry and hard crunchy kombu.

Each course listed over a dozen expensive sounding imported ingredients, with nary a thought on how they should synergize or contribute to the overall dish. It really felt like the chef first bought every exotic ingredient they could find, and then tried to cram everything into each dish to make it β€œfancy.” It would be one thing if the food actually tasted good, but it did not whatsoever, save for a piece of perfectly pan fried fish. They really need to revisit their approach to menu creation because it was an absolute travesty.

To top it off, the first floor of the restaurant had an extremely off putting smell as we were leaving (we were seated on the 2nd floor). It smelled like the basement of a 75 year old Chinese-American restaurant in Manhattan (a mixture of cleaning agents, decades of grime, and half processed food items).

Please save your money and head elsewhere; this was the absolute worst fine dining experience I’ve ever had.

I rarely eat this well and that’s saying something coming from a loyal Nobu client. From start to finish, L’Atelier in Ottawa was a complete surprise. We had no idea what we were going to eat before arriving and each of the seven courses was an explosion of flavor, creativity and balance. Every plate was a visual masterpiece and a culinary journey on its own. From the delicate crab topped with caviar to the vibrant vegetable garden suspended in glass, the presentation was simply breathtaking. The tartare was perfectly seasoned and layered with textures that played beautifully together, while the dessert was a stunning combination of color, freshness and precision. The service was as refined as the dishes, our waitress knew every detail of each creation and guided us with genuine passion. This restaurant deserves to be discovered and celebrated. It’s now without hesitation in my top five dining experiences worldwide.

The service was impeccable, with each dish presented very creatively and played in an appealing manner. Overall the food was good, though I did find the balance to be off on some of the courses – I found them to be overly sweet and missing acid, heat, and that umami element. Still a great experience though and I am glad I went!

The service was impeccable and the food was both delicious and creatively presented.

When the first couple of courses were served I was worried that we have to go for a meal after our meal, was I ever wrong. The servings of the savoury courses turned out to far more filling than expected and the desserts were amazing.

This is a dining experience that may be a little bit on the pricey side but is something that should be on your list.

It’s over 40 courses but it comes in 6 rounds so no need to wait for each course. In some cases it was nice and in some with warmer dishes, having to wait to eat something is not ideal (there was a round with soup and by the time I ate it, it was room temp).

If you are in Ottawa and celebrate a special occasion or just a foodie, I recommend coming here. My favorite was the a balloon filled with helium with a string made from food roll up that you bite into.

The dishes were fun and the chef was very creative with the ingredients. The service was also lovely!
