Korean Mother’s Meals- Authentic Hotteok(Pancake) & Kimchi

Their Kimchi and Hotteok are the best in town!

The hotteok is generously filled, and the kimchi is so crisp and fresh. The owners are always so kind and welcoming, too.

Especially I really love ‘Red bean brown sugar hotteok’

The owners, young Korean couple are very, very kind and friendly ❤️❤️
It is a pleasure to put an order over the phone, in person, and pick it up.

The same way as they put their hearts 💕 on the sleeves in customer conversations, in the food they prepare, they draw hearts on the packaging 🥰

My favorites are Hotteok and Japchae, and banana flavored milk drink from Korea as a dessert😋

Their hotteok is great, Ive tried both the ‘classic’ sweet hotteok as well as their savoury hotteok options (chicken buldak, japchae, and most recently the bulgogi) and they are all really tasty! Last time we went we finally picked up a container of their kimchi and it is the best kimchi I’ve ever eaten! I don’t know of anywhere else in Ottawa you can get hotteok and definitely nowhere else you can get kimchi this good!

The owners are also very sweet, very welcoming and obviously very proud of the food they serve.

Be warned that the place is pretty small and it takes about 15 mins for an order to be ready but you can call ahead to place an order if you don’t want to wait.

In the summer they do have a small amount of seating outdoors but it’s primarily a take-out place – there’s no indoor dining options.

Amazing food and super kind staff. We got the spicy japchae hotteok and it was massive, definitely a good lunch for two people! The taste was amazing and soooo filling. My boyfriend and I decided to “dine-in” there too, and there’s two cute tables outside the store and the staff bring you any utensils and napkins you need. It was a very cold day as well, and they were super kind and even brought us some coffee. While there’s no indoor dining, you can tell they put in work making the outside dining area comfortable, and it really shows:) Would definitely order from them again!

Super yummy hotteok! We got one original and one buldak. The outsides of the pancake part were really nice and crispy but still felt soft on the inside. Both of the fillings were really good too. The original one kinda reminded me of a beaver tail, similar taste profiles I think like sugar and cinnamon! But it has the additional nuts which I think makes it extra good! The buldak was super flavourful and had a good variety of ingredients in there, meat vegetables and cheese.

I think hotteok isn’t super common in Ottawa especially not freshly made ones, so absolutely would recommend!

The service was also super nice! The owner came out to talk to us and he was super friendly and we had a good conversation while waiting for our order to be prepped!

Take out only but they have a cute little patio-esque area to eat there if you want.
