Bar Lupulus

Another Ottawa favourite and possibly the most creative food accompanied by a great beer and natural wine rotation. I had the huge honour of being the first to order a new dish tonight: spaghetti with confit octopus. Beautiful balance of citrus and heat. Not to mention impeccable service. Come here!!

Pleasantly surprised by what I would call a refined pub. Overall tasty food. Would however recommend the bison carpaccio get a makeover: the meat was watery and unfortunately missing seasoning. I even had to ask for a bit of olive oil to give it more taste. Prices are pretty steep for what is expected from a gastropub. We nonetheless enjoyed the ambiance and friendly staff.

Bar Lupulus is an absolute standout. From the moment you walk in, the customer service is incredible, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The staff care about what they do and go out of their way to make sure you’re having a great experience.
The beer selection is top-tier, with an impressive range of beers on draft as well as an excellent variety of bottles and cans. Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just looking to try something new, there’s always something exciting and well-curated to choose from. On top of that, the cocktails are expertly made, creative, and delicious.
The atmosphere ties everything together: relaxed, stylish, and inviting, making it just as perfect for a casual drink as it is for a longer night out. Bar Lupulus consistently delivers on quality, service, and vibe. Easily a five-star experience every time. 🍻🍸

The food at Bar Lupulus was, overall, very good. Although, I felt that the foie & sourdough (second photo) that was a little underwhelming, particularly in terms of portions size. Service was pretty good, restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere.

It’s a really cool vibe with an awesome beer selection.
We had the tuna rillettes tapas which was drier than expected.
Then we tried the fois grass with homemade bread – wow! It’s delicious and the bread serving is GENEROUS – almost too much! My husband had the bison carpaccio which he really enjoyed. Sadly, we forgot to photograph these.
For main I had the Carbon Cassarecce – I’ve never had anything quite like it and it was superb, though it could have used more zucchini for balance.
My husband had the duck which was cooked perfectly.
The service was a little slow.

Nice afterwork neighborhood atmosphere and surprisingly larg on the inside. There is a backyard patio sitting area.

The food is unique and semi avant garde but approachable for someone not used to such things.

The staf was friendly.

The food was delicious and the cocktails were amazing. The chocolate ravioli shouldn’t work but it did.
