Excellent dim sum location in Ottawa. After many places in Chinatown closed, Ng is one of the best available options. Dim sum comes out fresh and high quality. Service is “standard Chinese restaurant” so only expect the very basics… But remember you’re here for the excellent dim sum!

If you want authentic Cantonese/Szechuan-style Chinese food in Ottawa, Ng’s Cuisine is absolutely worth it. Everything we ordered tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked properly, and the portions were more than fair for the price. Service was courteous and made the meal feel easy and welcoming. This is the kind of place I’d recommend when someone asks where to find Chinese food that feels closer to what you’d get in bigger food cities. Heads-up: it’s popular and parking is limited, so reserving/planning ahead helps.

We ordered from Uber Eats. Whenever I visit my mom in this neighbourhood we order Chinese takeaways. This place was recommended by one of her neighbours. I like the food less here than nearby Sea King or Brother Chiu. Tonight we got chicken with black bean sauce and honey garlic spare ribs. The chicken was tasty though the vegetables were a little limp. Spare ribs were very tender but overly sweet for my taste. It is inexpensive compared to the other neighbourhood options so maybe we will try again to find some dishes we really like. For example, plain rice is half the price of Brother Chiu and most dishes are under $20. Apologies that I only thought of taking photos after we started digging in.

We came here to celebrate Mother’s Day for lunch, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The dim sum portions were small and lacked flavor—especially the Har Gow, which was not enjoyable. We also never received the egg tarts we ordered.

One major issue was a misleading sign about an eel dish. It appeared to be priced at around $45, but we later discovered it was actually $45 per pound, which significantly increased the cost. This kind of pricing should be clearly communicated to avoid confusion.

Additionally, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold, which made the dining experience even less pleasant.

I wouldn’t recommend this place for dim sum. If you do choose to dine here for lunch or dinner, make sure to clarify prices beforehand to avoid any surprises.
