Spent 3 weeks traveling in Vietnam and I’m almost ashamed to admit that Ottawa’s Saigon Boy is as good if not better than the best I had in Vietnam. Dining room is everything but fancy and I hope it never change as all that matters is that decadent broth … I recommend pho number 20 that has brisket and beef flank, 2 fatty cut that make it even more comforting. Me and my partner still try other places every once in a while hopping we can find a comparable since Saigon Boy closes early and aren’t open on Tuesdays but nothing compares 🤷‍♂️

Homey spot with a classic pho house lineup. Tasty broth and a lot of effort clearly put into plating and presentation. Service was solid but could be a little more attentive. Definitely will be a go-to spot for pho in Ottawa going forward.

I enjoyed pho here a number of years ago now and was delighted to return for dinner. I got the house special Saigon boy pho and was very delighted. They did not cheap out on the meat. I loved the flavor of the broth. They bring tea and water. It was easy. Just cash or debit. It was a very short wait to eat and it was a delight from start to finish. Highly recommend!

After my second time at Saigon Boy, I decided it was time to post a review. It’s a quiet restaurant with amazing food, the best Vietnamese I’ve had in Ottawa so far. Really fast and friendly service. The rice dishes have a great amount of meat. The large pho bowls are enormous and super tasty. The fried spring rolls are crispy and flavorful.
