Big Rig Kitchen & Brewery – Ogilvie

I usually out-eat any one of my friends including those who outweigh me by 80 lbs. I could not finish, reluctantly I might add, the Big Red Signature Club. A huge delicious club sandwich with expertly done fries and a small but tasty side slaw. Service was great! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items and beers. Thanks for a great evening.

So we order shrimp no shrimp at all then we order mac n cheese no Mac n cheese like.come on for real look how many times shrimp is on the menu and Mac n cheese and the girl at door is friendly but knows the handicap door is broke and not fix she has no clue as to why it seems like it a management problem in this place it was suggested by my friend and was a big let down there is 10 restaurant across from hear go there this place was a huge let down you know my revies are very honest and no handicap door should of been a big no yes we had a wheelchair the waitress is great very good but food and place let down starter chicken tenders were not tender the are very very hard this was a big let down first and last time its a shame because they have the staff hear to be great but to run like it was today it not a place I suggest to anyone understand we look thru menu for appetizers pick one then order to be told.no so we look again then order. Appetizers then look at main course pick our to be told.no again back to looking like.come on this place is not suggested but stsff are a1 look at chicken u can tell it bad

This has been my default place for some delicious comfort food and great beer. Been going there for over 10 years. I usually always get either the Texas smash burger with onion rings or the small big rig classic pizza. Favourite beer when available is the Tartan Pants (scotch ale). When I go with my partner, she always gets the avocado salad with grilled chicken. I wish one day they bring back their Philly Cheesesteak pizza…

My partner and I chose to have dinner together at the Big Rig Gloucester location tonight. I ordered their chicken tenders salad and when it arrived I spotted and plucked out a hair. We agreed it looked like a black beard hair. When our waitress came by we mentioned the hair and showed it to her on a napkin. We were not rude, we made no demands, just simply mentioned it. She asked to return it and as I was grossed out aside from not wanting to cause trouble, I agreed. We waited a while for my salad to be replaced while I encouraged my partner to eat his food so it didn’t get cold.

When my replacement salad finally came they had clearly given me the equivalent of two chicken nuggets versus the larger, breaded chicken breasts that originally came with the salad. There was also a half hearted sorry and nothing else. She barely came to see us most of the night as it was. Then, when I got up to use the bathroom my partner and I both noticed that they have a somewhat open kitchen with a man with a dark head of hair and full beard with not a hair net in sight.

While I get that some things may differ, in my experience working with food a hair net and gloves were always required. That clearly isn’t a standard practice here which we believe is what led to hair in my food. Then, we also felt like we were being punished with a reduced portion for mentioning the hair. They also took my old utensils and didn’t bring me more so my partner had to hunt some down for me.

I’ve not been there more then once or twice but have always enjoyed that salad. Now, I feel disgusted and mistreated just trying to have dinner and struggle to imagine going back. Really disappointing.

The dish I got (mac & cheese) was really good, but I have you say it was too small to get full off of. For $17, they really should give larger portions. In any case, our server was very friendly and checked up on us frequently. I guess it also helped that it wasn’t too busy when I ate there for dinner.
