University Tavern

I had my first breakfast special in the fall of 1987 when they were still $2. I have had hundreds of meals at the Tavern since. This family run diner is an Ottawa institution. It still has great prices and good quality food. The family that runs the place treats all of their customers like family members. The pizza is phenomenal and the specials are always prepared with love. You will never be disappointed at the Tavern.

Come here if you want a warm greeting and some good food and drinks. They are very kind and sweet. Great prices for what you’re getting. Dont be the one to miss out on a good time 🙂

Such a cozy diner spot on campus. They’ve been here forever and are great at what they do. I always love coming here for drinks/food after events with my class mates. They’ve make you feel at home and the prices can’t be beat!

This place is so heartwarming and amazing. Somebody stole my bag, which was a heirloom of my dead mother, and the owner came and not only caught him but convinced him to pursue a more noble life. Their blueberry pie slaps too

I’ve been coming to Universo Tavern for the past 18 years, and in that time, the owners have become part of my life. I’ve laughed with them during their silliest moments, and I cried with them when one of the owners passed away. That’s the kind of place this is—where you’re not just a customer, you’re family.

The prices? Amazing. Truly affordable for the quality you get. You can enjoy delicious chicken wings for $14.99 and a whole pitcher of beer for $16—a combo that’s hard to beat these days.
