TL:DR – Check it out if you haven’t. Their BΓ‘nh mΓ¬ are delicious. The egg coffee may not be for you.

I have gone here a number of times in the past month and been satisfied πŸ™‚ There’s been minimal wait time between ordering and being served. The service staff are all friendly and kind. Lots to like in a “hidden gem” like this. I was lucky to have this place recommended to me, otherwise I wouldn’t have naturally wandered by because they are tucked in from the main road.

Their strength for me is their BΓ‘nh mΓ¬. I’ve tried their beef, pork, and chicken varieties, and would rank them from best to least best in that order of my own preference. Each time there were enough fillings that they were practically falling out of the sandwiches! I can’t speak to the tofu one.

They also have a very nice Classic Viet Coffee (hot) which is definitely worth a try. A bit sweeter than your typical coffee, and a nice taste to it.

Also, a big positive for me, they us a coffee cup that is recyclable/biodegradable/compostable. A part of the experience that is missing from many other coffee places in the downtown core.

But, there are a couple of drawbacks for me…

The BÑnh mì are tasty, but there are missed opportunities with a tastier paté, and a tougher/crunchier bun. The pluffy bun is nice, but might fill you beyond what you want for a sandwich.

The other “miss” here is their egg coffee. I’m really hoping that I just got a bad egg, because other reviews praise this coffee. But it was definitely not for me. It’s salty, which I don’t mind. But with the egg topping also came a taste/smell that was fishy-leaning. Unfortunately, it’s not what I’m looking for in a coffee, and I wasn’t able to finish it. Worth a try for yourself to see if it’s for you.

There’s also just a couple benches for sitting on, but no tables. Because of the nature of what’s being offered, I don’t see this as a drawback, and in fact lends to the ease with which you can order and get your food without fighting through a crowd.

Overall, I’m giving a positive review because there is so much good going for this place, and always happy to have another option for Vietnamese cuisine in downtown Ottawa!

This is a great cafe with great service! My friend and I saw it online and were excited to try it.

It’s too bad there are no places to sit. I wanted to stay for lunch but had to go elsewhere due to lack of tables…

Stopped in to grab an
Americano to go, only to find out I could have ordered an egg coffee.

A cool spot that served up Vietnamese coffee along with Banh mi’s.

Not a place to set up and chill, more of a spot to pop in and grab a java to go.

Great staff and great coffee. I’ll be back.

This café is a hidden gem! The owners put so much love into everything and you can taste it. The cookies are loaded with decadent chocolate and the Vietnamese coffee tastes authentic ☺️
The staff are kind even during rushes, and portions are super generous. Highly recommend for lunch, coffee, or a sweet treat πŸ’›

What an amazing place! Friendly staff, tasty drinks and delicious sandwiches. I got a hojicha latte and added a tofu banh mi while waiting in line, after seeing how many other folks had ordered the food. Best decision ever! The service was fast, the latte was not too sweet and the sandwich had a generous amount of fresh toppings on a warm, crispy bun.

I also love the unique drink cups (there is no plastic top and they be used for hot OR cold drinks). The sign about the lack of tip jar was a refreshing touch, which I know a lot of customers appreciate in this economy. Thanks for opening in the neighbourhood β€” I’ll be back again soon!

Really quick. No seating yet. Even though there was 10+ people ahead of me, I still got my grilled beef banh mi and salted cold foam coffee in 11 min from ordering it. Very clean and spacious area, wheelchair accessible.

Looking forward to seeing how this place grows. Please consider having fresh sugarcane juices next year. That would pair so well with banh mi.

Banh mi baguette was soft, not so much of a satisfying crust, but very good bread to filling ratio- very tender and juicy beef. I would have preferred more from the flavoured pickled white radish and carrots and possibly the option of spicy chili peppers.
Coffee was perfect.
