Our group of four enjoyed a lovely evening at Citizen. We started out with the House Focaccia and the Tangy Cucumber Salad which we shared – both were fantastic.
For mains, we had the Roasted Hudson Valley Duck, Lemon Ricotta Cappelleti and the Saffron Seafood Risotto. The duck and cappelletti were excellent while the risotto was good but didn’t have quite the same flavour hit – still good though and the sea bream was perfectly cooked. We ordered one of each dessert to share around the table – the sticky toffee pudding was the favourite followed by the panna cotta and then the tiramisu. All the food was beautifully presented. The drinks list featured a good selection of options – we ordered two glasses of wine, a cider and one one of the non-alcoholic options. The Farmgate cider was disappointing but the other choices were great (the Crazy Creatures GrΓΌner Veltliner was a discovery and it is stocked by the SAQ so will pick up a bottle to enjoy at home). Our server was very friendly, helpful and attentive. We will definitely think of Citizen when planning to go out for a special meal again.

This place was fantastic! The restaurant is cozy with a nice ambiance, while it was still able to accommodate for our larger group! They present seasonal cocktails which were incredible, as well as nailing some classics. The carpaccio is some of the best I’ve ever had, and a good portion size. Our group loved all of the food we got, with nothing but great things to say.
The service was fantastic as well, our water did not go empty, drinks were always offered to be topped off, and food was very timely. I super duper recommend this place!!!

We had multiple dishes. The focaccia, bay scallop ceviche, Nashville hot rabbit croquettes, parsnip agnolotti, town meatballs and fregola. The meatballs are to die for! So good, definitely reccomend. Also the agnolotti was great too. The rabbit croquettes were good, but I would have liked to see a hot sauce along with it. The focaccia bread was nice and salty with whipped butter. The Tiramisu was very good! My date had the chardonnay and really liked it. One of the best resturants in Ottawa.

Had never been here before so I wasn’t expecting much and honestly it was underwhelming. I wouldn’t say it’s an Italian place other than serving pasta and meatballs.

The pasta is fresh but for the price the portions are not worth it. There’s no option to add protein to any dish unless it specially says so under that one pasta dish. I heard great things about out the meatballs so that one didn’t disappoint. The watermelon tomato salad was good but again small. Very large beer menu and wine, cocktails were a bit underwhelming.

Ambiance is nothing to note, intimate and small with candles. I’m not a picky eater and love all food but this was the first menu I didn’t find a lot on there that I wanted to try. I know they change up their menus often so there might be better options another time but I don’t think I’ll be going back as there’s other restaurants that are just as good if not better with fresh pasta, protein and worth the price tag.

Service was fine though, attentive and water was topped often.

Everything was delicious but the real star was the Miso Butterscotch Pudding. I’d eat it everyday if I could 😭. Service was good and the place is small and cozy.
