This was my first time ordering at Tokyo Crispy. I was very impressed.

I ordered Tempura Prawns – very fresh and firm with a satisfying crunch of the gorgeous golden shell.
The Soeul Katsu was a very generous portion, 2 cutlets. The breading was equally crunchy and the brown sauce was savoury and smooth.

Both dishes had a clean finish, perfectly fried.

Excellent value, very delicious
I will definitely be returning.
Thank you for the wonderful meal.

There was a bit of a wait, but it wasn’t a problem. The female owner kindly apologized and offered warm tea, which was a nice gesture β€” not many places offer complimentary tea these days. I had the Okonomi Katsu, and although the flavor was unfamiliar, it was unique and I personally enjoyed it.

The meal came with miso soup, rice, and a side of pickles, and I felt the balance was well thought out. While most restaurants offer main dishes alone for $20–$25, the inclusion of rice and miso soup made it a satisfying meal.

Next time, I’ll definitely try something different.

Absolutely worth it. The chicken is so crispy, well seasoned and everything on the tray is delicious. We got there at 6:05 on a Saturday and they only took 1 more couple after us, so get there early and be prepared to wait. Service was very friendly if a little slow, as it was packed. Quality seems to be the name of the game. We will be back!

Checked the place out for their soft opening! The best tasting katsu in Ottawa for sure, on par with places like Katsuya and Brown Donkatsu in Toronto. They only had the miso-kara katsu and the soul katsu for their soft opening but their menu has a bit more options for the future. I got both styles and also tried the takoyaki appetizer, which has a slightly sweet sauce with a hint of ginger. Everything was delicious, I only wish the portion sizes were a tad bit larger. Since it was their soft opening, and their team is small, the wait time was definitely long, so please be patient with them/call in advance. I’m sure they’ll work out their logistics soon enough, but the katsu is worth it if you’re craving it in Ottawa!

Got the Miso-Kara Katsu Pork Loin and the Takoyaki. If the takeout version was so good then will definitely be doing sit down next time. The takoyaki octopus balls were perfectly crispy outside and hot and soft on the inside with chewy bits of octopus. The katsu dish came with two pork cutlets, a side of sliced cabbage, picked daikon(?), rice, and a little dipping bowl of miso sauce. There was just a perfect amount of dipping sauce for each piece of the cutlet slices. The pork cutlet was so tender and soft on the inside that it was easy to bite in half. The breadcrumb shell was crunchy. It didn’t even feel oily. The sliced cabbage was the perfect light and fresh accompaniment for the savoury cutlet. The picked vegetables weren’t too sour and the flavour mixed so well with the salty miso sauce. The rice initially didn’t seem enough but it was so filling. The katsu dish also came with a bowl of miso soup. Highly recommend. So good.
