Authentic Sri Lankan food is hard to find! I was so delighted with my lunch today. Thilaks did not disappoint. Delicious food, big portions, and such friendly service. I got the black pork with rice and a bunch of different sides: lotus, lentil curry, green beans, and more. Everything was so flavorful. If I lived in Ottawa I would come here a lot!

If you’d like to go a culinary adventure to Sri Lanka in Ottawa, then you have to make a visit to Thilaks. To get to the restaurant you have to go in to a Sri Lankan grocery store and then head downstairs to where Chef Arjun and his team have amazing aromas emanating from the kitchen.
You have to try their specialty Lamprais which is a rice that is cooked in banana leaves for 8 hours and comes with an assortment of curries. The spices and the tastes are sooo good.
We also had a lovely chicken kottu roti and the chef’s specialty herbal teas from Sri Lanka.
Best restaurant find in a long time!

Delicious lotus leaf salad and Lumprice. Freshly cooked and served on banana leaf. A totally authentic South Sri Lankan experience with. Berger touch. The owner/cook knows his trade and he is so gracious and kind. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend!!

This is our first time trying Sri Lankan food and it did not disappoint! Everything is well seasoned and very flavourful. The best for me is the mutton rolls and black pork rice and curry and the owner is very nice too. He explained to us everything.

Incredible food and Incredibly kind host. The chef is clearly proud of what he is serving and happily explained the menu choices. We had the mutton rolls, mutton curry, devil chicken, and lumprice served on banana leaf- which had mutton, seafood, and vegetarian components. Everything was delicious, homemade, and nicely spicy.
