Phynicia Restaurant

Loved it.. I mean we were celebrating a special occasion and first went across the street from Phynicia to have our hopes and celebrations quashed but then emerged Phynicia and oh boy did it feel like a knight in shining armour – arriving to not just save the afternoon but to also leave us with really wonderful memories!!

The food is excellent -we are vegetarian so we were delighted to see so many options on the menu, and all the ones we ordered were simply awesome – fresh, delicious and appetizing!

The service was excellent and while there was a bit of a language barrier with one of the staff there – it didn’t mar the experience, rather the guys were so positive, friendly and accommodating that we felt special.

And don’t even get me started on value for money – for the amount we spent across the street on a slice of cake and three drinks, at Phynicia the same amount got us enough food to not only fill us up but also pack left overs to eat later that evening. Frankly speaking I would have happily paid more – for the food was delicious and portion sizes generous.

Would I visit again – try and stop me! 😂 You are likely to see me go there again and introduce it to a lot more of my friends both who know and those new to Lebanese food! If you are a vegetarian and like Lebanese food – try it at least once – you won’t be disappointed.

It was my first time there. My wife has been coming here for a while and she insisted I should come. It was such a great and fabulous surprise to find such a delicious food so close of home. The terracotta kebab and the chicken plates were outstanding and the service was really heartwarming.

I had brunch here with friends and it was wonderful. Our server Ahmed was very kind and attentive. Service was a bit slow (long wait for the food) but it was very much worth it. We ordered an akkawi cheese, foul, sujuk fatteh, shakshouka and the fire oven terracotta tahini kebab. The star of the show was the tahini kebab, it was so flavorful and juicy and delicious, we didn’t leave a single drop of the sauce (dipped our bread in it after). The next best thing was the sujuk fatteh, incredible and complex flavours, everyone loved it. The foul was underwhelming, usually I like it more flavoured/spicy but it was okay. Same with the shakshouka, it didn’t feel like shakshouka (no poached eggs, felt like a frittata or omelet instead). Not bad but not great either. The fresh bread served on the side was also phenomenal. Warm and fresh! Prices are affordable and overall a great value.
The main thing I was disappointed in was when we asked for water, we were given water bottles, and when we asked for tap water (because they charge $1 for the bottles), they said they don’t serve tap water. It’s poor business practice to not offer free tap water. Just a suggestion to improve hospitality.

We had brunch at Phynicia Restaurant in Barrhaven and it was a wonderful experience! The food was incredibly fresh, and it was nice to watch the chefs prepare dishes right in front of us in the open kitchen. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and I want to give a special mention to Ahmed, who was incredibly helpful and answered all of our questions about the menu. The food arrived warm and delicious, and the ambiance truly captured the essence of Middle Eastern culture with its beautiful details and nostalgic vibes. I would recommend Phoenicia for anyone craving authentic and delightful Middle Eastern cuisine!

I’ve been coming to Phynicia since 2020, and the fact that I’m only writing this review now says everything—you get so caught up in how good the food is that you forget everything else, including leaving feedback!
The service is always excellent, and Ahmad in particular makes every visit feel warm and welcoming. Their Fattah is an absolute must-try, rich and flavorful in all the right ways. And whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the tahini chocolate—it’s unbelievably good (just… maybe don’t think about the gym or the calories afterward!).
Overall, it is amazing, from the food to the service. Highly recommend!

Phynicia is a wonderful spot for authentic Lebanese food in Barrhaven. The restaurant manages to feel both cozy and sophisticated, and the family-owned charm is immediately noticeable. The entire experience felt very welcoming, and we appreciated the effort they put into creating a genuine, traditional atmosphere.
The service was prompt and knowledgeable. Our server was very helpful and the staff handled a busy dining room with ease. On the food side, the quality is truly high; you can tell the ingredients are fresh and the recipes are traditional. We especially enjoyed the tahini kebab and the kibbeh plate, which was cooked perfectly.
Overall, Phynicia delivers on its promise of authentic Mediterranean cuisine and great hospitality. It’s a reliable choice for a great meal. We look forward to visiting again soon to try the fatteh and foul.
