The soup still has the same great taste it had back in the ’80s — rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. There’s a good variety of dishes to choose from, and everything feels consistently well prepared. The restaurant is clean, warm, and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. A place that truly keeps its tradition alive.

Generous portions and comforting Vietnamese food. The bún đậu mắm tôm was authentic and well-balanced, with a great variety of meats, tofu, and herbs. The cơm tấm was flavorful and satisfying, and the pho had a light, aromatic broth with plenty of beef. Cozy atmosphere overall – solid spot and worth coming back.

For such a high rated place, it was a very average bowl of pho. Broth was not very flavourful at all, cuts of meat were relatively thin and ordinary.

Spring roll broken rice was OK, but noodles were not vermicelli but some strange yellow noodle.

Pho Thu Do is a special place for me. It was the very first restaurant I visited when I came to Ottawa — my introduction to Vietnamese rice noodle here — and after more than 25 years, it’s still the first place I go with my family.

The food has always been reliable and comforting, the kind of flavour that brings you back without thinking. Service is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it’s the kind of spot that quietly becomes part of your routine without you even noticing.

After all these years, it remains one of my go‑to places in the city.

The pho at this restaurant is incredible, and the generous portions make it an excellent value. The restaurant is clean and offers great service.

Jackie, our server, was exceptional. He went above and beyond, answering all my questions about the menu and making my experience unforgettable. I can’t wait to return and enjoy his outstanding service again!
