New Sushi

For a takeout-only sushi place, this restaurant is truly impressive. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable.
The packaging is secure and well organized, keeping everything fresh and intact during delivery. Even though it’s not dine-in, you can tell the team puts real care into the presentation and overall quality.
The taste is consistently good — I’ve ordered multiple times and have never been disappointed.

Ordering for pickup has never been a letdown. The sushi is beautifully made and hands-down better than any other sushi in Ottawa. Always worth the wait!

Called ahead the day before to place an order for a party tray, but when we arrived for pickup, they accused us of not having placed an order. No apologies or acknowledgment of their mistake to not take the order down and instead we were met with the worst attitude. Incredibly disappointing customer service.

As for the food, we were very excited to try it, but unfortunately would not recommend. Unsure why there are so many good reviews, as it was barely on par with grocery store sushi.

The fish was fresh and the rice to fish ratio was perfect, but unfortunately, the sushi rice was plain. There was no salt, rice vinegar, miein or kombu added to it, which was pretty bland and disappointing. We might try it again at a later date, as it was good, but not great. This being said, the menu is extensive, with great choices of party platters, different rolls and dishes, and the service was great. Just fix the rice, please! 🙏

My coworker and I ordered from here at 6:25PM tonight because we were absolutely famished and craving some sushi. Other sushi spots in Orleans can be pricey for subpar food, so we thought we’d try something new. The 36 piece maki set was ready when it said it would be (about 20-30 minutes), and we easily ate it within 5-10 minutes.

It. Was. Delicious. The rice is less seasoned than other places, but it really allows the flavour of the fish to shine. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared, the tempura shrimp and the tempura bits in the spicy salmon roll were crispy and weren’t greasy, and the size of each piece was perfect.

I do wish the spicy mayo came in a slightly larger container, but we were able to eat the whole set and still have some spicy mayo left over. As long as you aren’t dousing your sushi in sauce, you’ll have more than enough for your rolls.

The service was very nice too. The employee made sure to ask if we wanted any chopsticks or sauces, and was super friendly. New Sushi is a small, cozy spot with a cute interior and seats for you to sit in while you wait for your food.

To the reviews complaining about the wait time: If you’re ordering a large quantity of food, you need to be prepared to wait. Good quality sushi takes time to make, especially when the staff have other customers to serve. If you’re concerned about your food being completed on time, then you should be calling ahead well in advance to discuss pick-up times with the staff.

Overall, I would order from New Sushi again. The price was excellent for the amount of food and the quality of ingredients that you get. The photo attached doesn’t even do it justice!
