Le Cordon Doré

I had lunch today at Cordon Doré and I was honestly impressed. They were offering a Mauritian buffet, and the food was excellent from start to finish.

The dholl puri and chana puri were fresh, soft, and full of flavor just like back home. The lamb curry was rich and tender, the rougaille chevrette had the perfect balance of spice and freshness, and the chop suey poulet was beautifully done. Every dish felt authentic and made with care.

Service was also very good, friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Chef Callaram really did an amazing job putting this buffet together. You can feel the passion behind the food.

What I really like is that the restaurant is usually known for its Indian cuisine, but they also offer some very nice French touches, which makes the whole experience even more unique.

Overall, it was a very nice experience. I would definitely recommend others, especially the Mauritian community to go and try it. It’s always great to support and enjoy authentic Mauritian flavors here in Gatineau. I will surely be back.

Had a delicious family valentines dinner with my partner and his uncles yesterday. We had chicken madras, butter chicken, saag and beef, rice, naan, Chana, gulabjaman and keer. Everything tasted perfect. They are new to the area and I am thankful they have a good Indian place to keep them full between visits. Looking forward to our next visit home to take them out again too. Lovely service and staff and the restaurant was full when we were there. Lots of street parking. The 4 meals we ordered were enough for 6 senior meals so for the price we paid $23 a meal.

The food was amazing! We ordered butter chicken and chicken tandoori with a honey sauce and onion bhaji. They customize your spice level which was nice. The service was so friendly and attentive! The restaurant was also very nice with nice furniture and utensils and dinnerware. We’ll definitely go back!

We love taking the boat over to visit the Chef and his lovely family — especially when we have out-of-town guests in tow.

Tonight’s meal was absolutely flawless — every dish was loved and savored. The Chef, as always, greeted us with such kindness and made a special stop at our table to say hello.
