La Belle & La Boeuf – Burger Bar – Gatineau

The food was not fantastic. My sheriff burger was too large. The onion rings were not homemade made. The music was so loud I was yelling. The only shinning light was our waitress. She was a ⭐️.

Disclaimer: this November 11, 2025 rating is somewhat biased as the owner, for the last few years, provides 3 options from the menu (smashed burger and fries, mac and cheese or a poutine) free of charge for military members on Remembrance Day.

This year I went to try this place for the first time and it was very good.

The venue was nice with an impressive selection of alcohol that I would need to investigate further.

I will certainly come back and add more comments and adjust my rating if needed, but today was a very enjoyable experience, and not only because the meal was on the house (actually I don’t think I deserve it as much as some of my esteemed colleagues).

Got the burger of the day deal today for lunch & the soup was really good!

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the burger – it felt as though the patty was not as thick as I am used to from other restaurants, and thus I don’t get the juiciness I am typically expecting from the burger (in other words, it felt pretty dry). Fries were quite decent, and for the value of the lunch it is not bad. It could have been better though.

We were a large group of people today (about 10 people), though I still felt that service was a little slow even though it was not super busy at lunch today. Waitress was polite and answered all of our questions well.

I had such a wonderful experience at La Belle et La Bœuf recently! I ordered the goat cheese salad, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The combination of fresh greens, creamy goat cheese, crunchy nuts, and just the right touch of sweetness in the mustard dressing was absolutely perfect. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and prepared with care — every bite was bursting with flavor and texture.

Beyond the amazing food, what truly stood out was the exceptional service. The entire staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. A special thank-you to Julie-Anne, who went above and beyond to make the experience special. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail were remarkable. She checked in at just the right times, made sure everything was perfect, and did it all with such positive energy that it really brightened our visit.

It’s rare to find a place that combines great food with such thoughtful service, but La Belle et La Bœuf truly delivers on both. I’ll definitely be coming back — and recommending it to anyone wanting a good time out!

me and my husband love coming here! at least once a month we drive about an hour to come eat here together and we’re always very satisfied with the food, the service and the atmosphere in general. i absolutely loveeee the fries here and we also often like to try new things on the menu and are never disappointed with the results. i really recommend this restaurant, it’s truly a 10/10 in our eyes! we’ll always keep coming here🤩
