Khao Thai Restaurant

Stopped in this evening after wanting to try for a long time. Such a treat. We ordered many dishes to share. We had spring rolls and chicken skewers to start, the peanut sauce was so good. For mains we had the pad se-ieu, geang penang (personal favourite), pad khing, and khee Mao. Everything was delicious and already looking forward to visiting again.

I have been dining at Khao Thai for over 15 years, and it remains one of my absolute favourites in our Beautiful Ottawa. This is the place I bring and recommend to friends, clients and out-of-town guests for a deceptively exquisite dining experience.

The food is exotic, elegantly presented while honouring the richness of the Thai culture and flavours. The atmosphere- whether indoors, on the patio or at the bar – is always inviting and stylish, and surprisingly consistent, polished warm and memorable. oh and the menu can pretty much satisfy most dietary restrictions.

More than once, guests have told me their only regret was not discovering it sooner.

This restaurant has become a place I visit every single time I come to Ottawa. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food is always delicious, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. It’s one of those reliable spots where you know the experience will be good every time. I’ll definitely keep coming back!

I had the Geang Panang curry with chicken, and a side of rice, which was very delicious, filling, and not too spicy. The curry was well-proportioned with veggies, chicken, and sauce and had just the right creamy thickness.

The staff were very friendly and attentive (I never had to ask for a water refill). The environment was comfortable and felt appropriate.

I would definitely come back here again just for this curry, but also to try some of the other dishes!

Wonderful food, beautiful atmosphere and amazing service! A bit on the pricier side for Thai but it is in the Market area, so to be expected. Highly recommend!

A staple Thai restaurant in the Market. The service here was great and the staff very friendly.

We had the Massaman curry and the Veg Panang with a side of jasmine rice. Both great meals.

They also had a few other vegetarian options and you could opt out any of the meat for tofu if you wanted.

This restaurant is very popular, so get here early or make a reservation.

Came here since this was the Thai restaurant in ottawa with the most Google reviews; I was looking to try a new place and was on the hunt for the best thai around… found it!!!! The food is fresh, authentic Thai cuisine, and has been in business for 20+ years. Friendly staff, quick service, food came out hot and as ordered. Ordered the green curry and general chicken. Also tried their thai lychee/vodka cocktail… wow! 5 stars all around. Highly recommend, and definitely coming back. The photos I took dont even do justice to how amazing it was. Colors and flavors were fantastic.

I’ve been wanting to try Khao Thai for quite awhile now, and I was not disappointed!

The patio is a gorgeous little street-side space, that is well decorated and comfortable.

Service was prompt, professional, and very friendly.

Reasonably priced menu and a great cocktail list as well.

The pad thai was ridiculously good, but everything coming out of that kitchen looked fantastic.

I will definitely be returning!
