Gyubee Japanese Grill (Ottawa)

My boyfriend and I went to Gyubee by accident. We were walking around downtown Ottawa simply got hungry. We were extremely lucky to go and were served by Esther. Esther was quick to explain how their restaurant works and the options that were available.

We spent an amazing our getting little pieces of meat and barbecuing them and feeding them to each other. It was an amazing romantic Valentine’s day. Thank you very much for your help Esther

We had such a great experience at Gyubee, and a big part of that was thanks to Esther! The restaurant was extremely busy, and you could tell it had been a long shift, but she was still so sweet, patient, and attentive with us. She made sure we were taken care of, checked in regularly, and kept such a positive attitude the whole time. It really made our visit even more enjoyable. Thank you, Esther, for your kindness and hard work — we truly appreciated it!

Was introduced to this restaurant by a friend today and I will be going back without a doubt. Portions were a great size, food was beyond delicious and cooking it for yourself is a bonus. We ordered just about every meat you could and a bowl of lettuce to use as wraps for the meat and rice.

Esther was our waitress and she was checking in every time she walked by the table and made it much easier to order more food.

The only complaint I would have is that if you’re on the inside of the booth be ready to not have as much leg room as you would normally, part of the duct work for the cook pit is right there.

Had a great dinner here. We went on a Saturday night and got on the yelp waitlist at 5pm when there was a 60-100min wait. We got a table around 7:45pm. Highly recommend keeping an eye on the waitlist, we probably wouldn’t have gotten a table otherwise.

The food was delicious and the service was super fast. Our table had curtains on either side so we had our own little space which was very nice.

We will definitely be coming back!

Had a good time at gyubee for the lunch all you can eat! Service was good, i was offered to sample the meat dish i wanted to try and then order more if needed. Empty dishes were cleared quickly and the food was pretty fresh. I especially like the sweet soya beef and the thick cut pork belly, which you can wrap with lettuce. Catherine was my server and she was nice and checked back on me often on whether I wanted to order more!

This is honestly the best Asian restaurant I’ve been to in Ottawa so far. The grilled meat was amazing. It was very flavorful and the quality of the meat was high.

The service was also excellent. A special thanks to Julie, who took great care of us throughout the whole meal. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely come back again later.

Came here with my partner a few weeks ago and had a great time! They don’t take reservations, but you have to join a virtual waitlist. We joined the wait list and had a table by the time we got there. It wasn’t our first time here, but our server, Heidi, gave us a quick rundown of the new additions.

We took a minute to read over the menu then started ordering. We ordered an assortment of meats, seafood, vegetables, and other sides, all of which were fresh! I loved that our food came at different times so we could pace ourselves while we ate. Being able to cook our food ourselves is such a cool concept! Everything was absolutely delicious. I especially loved the new cold noodle soup (which I think was soba) and the pineapple! The servers routinely came by to clear our table of empty plates, allowing us to keep ordering more food.

The food, atmosphere, and service were great overall and I’d highly recommend this place to anyone!
