A La Istanbul Turkish Cuisine

Excellent tasting Turkish cuisine, located next to CF Rideau mall, very busy location. We ordered lentil soup, chicken pride, and a platter of chicken and beef Adana kabobs. Complimentary Turkish tea was amazing. Price on the higher side.

We were in Ottawa for the weekend and we had dinner here on Saturday night. The place was so beautiful inside, we got seated right away.

The server Meriem was lovely, prompt and attentive.

We had adana dinner, lamb shish kebab, minced beef pide and an order of humus. For dessert, we had the chocolate lava cake. They also gave us Turkish tea to end the meal.
Next time I come back to Ottawa, will definitely be coming back here.

Originally from Ottawa and now living in Vancouver, I only get to visit the city about once a year. While looking for a place to eat with friends, we came across A La Istanbul, which was new to me. It ended up being the best choice we could have made.

The restaurant was busy, as it should be, but we were lucky to get a table. Both the service and the food completely exceeded our expectations. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, with generous portion sizes. The baba ghanoush tasted exactly like I remember from my childhood. There is a great variety of vegetarian and pescatarian options, along with an excellent selection of meat dishes, all perfectly cooked and well seasoned.

A special shoutout to the desserts. We originally planned to order something basic and chocolaty, but the staff recommended the Sutlac and Trilece instead. Do not leave without trying the Trilece. It was outstanding.

The service deserves another mention. Despite how busy it was, everyone was friendly, attentive, and quick with our food. My friends and I will absolutely be recommending this place and will be back whenever we are in town. I truly hope it stays around for many years and maintains its quality, because it is an easy choice to make a new holiday tradition when visiting the city over Christmas.

I was even lucky enough to meet the owner and jokingly asked him to open a Vancouver location so I could enjoy it more than once a year. Fingers crossed 🤞

I had such an amazing experience at this Turkish restaurant! The place itself is absolutely beautiful, but on top of that, the food was incredible. Everything is 100% halal, the service was excellent, and every single bite was so yummy, I’m literally still thinking about it.

I loved everything I tried. You know when the food is so good you just want to come back the next day? That’s exactly how I felt. Great atmosphere, great people, great food. Definitely one of my new favourites and I can’t wait to return!

I especially recommend the warm lentil soup, the hummus, and the Yaprak Sarma as starters. For mains, we had the beef adana and the shrimp sauté. We ended with a delicious fresh dessert, the Sütlaç, paired with Turkish tea. Every dish was an explosion of flavors ; beautifully seasoned and clearly made with passion.

A La Istanbul truly captures the taste and spirit of Turkey. The food was bursting with authentic flavour from the perfectly grilled kebabs to the fresh, warm bread that tasted straight out of a Turkish bakery. Every dish was rich, beautifully seasoned, and made with care.

The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The service was fast, attentive, and genuinely warm you can tell they take pride in what they do.
