À La Dérive – Brasserie Artisanale

Goodness gracious this was a lovely evening with cheery service, delicious food and a upbeat ambiance. The fish & chips is made in house was was flaky & crispy with no heavy batter or greasy feel. The accompanying coleslaw was creamy and yummy and the fries were perfect. The homemade tartare was perfect and the also homemade aioli was sublime. Dinner companions chose the Haloumi bowl and was very happy with it texture and taste. Last but definitely not at all least, the osso buco won the night’s sounds for yum and ohh! It was off the bone tender and the polenta was smoother than a Sade song. See photos for proof. Bothe beets and beef tartare were delicious too. Highly recommend. Great view and parking is located behind the restaurant (a mere 2 minute walk) and it is free. Do visit during the warmer months as it it a great spot to have a local beer or cider ( check out the varied list!!) after a breezy bicycle ride. Lots of cyclists stop by after a good ride.

Great brewery. So nice to have this one in Gatineau and in front of the river. Terrace, back garden, lower and upper floor, all are great. Very good beer. Normal prices. Nice service.

Disappointed Overall – Great View, But That’s About It
Gave this place a try, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. My son enjoyed the nachos with fried chicken, but the wings were just okay, and I didn’t enjoy the poutine at all—which only reinforces my belief that food trucks still do it best.

The value was lacking. I was charged $3.00 for each small glass of ginger ale, which was mostly ice—maybe half a can’s worth. At that price, I might as well have ordered a beer.

Parking is a bit inconvenient; it’s either on the street to the east and behind the building, but you have to walk around to get in.

While the waterfront view is excellent and a definite highlight, the food and overall experience left me disappointed. I really wanted to like this place, but I won’t be returning.

One of my favorites, with beautiful views and superb beer, cant get any better. I wouldn’t come here for the food, doesn’t mean its bad but the beer is the star. My favorite is the Panda Vampire. They got a very good collection of beers.
Food, everyone liked their food very much, especially the wings, fries and burgers. The poutine however was a little hard to finish because of the tastes and that’s the only negative thing
Servers are super friendly and speaks English so nothing much to worry if you dont speak/ read French

I had a very bad experience, which I honestly didn’t expect. I had invited my wife and told her this place was super cool and unique.

Right from the start, the orange juice had a sour, weird taste, I even told the server. Then we waited for our order… which was apparently served to the table next to us, even though they arrived 20 minutes after we did. It was our full order (three items). I noticed and mentioned it. The other table had already touched the food, and when I flagged it, the staff just took the plates from them and handed them to us.

One plate wasn’t returned to us because the other table had already started eating it, it was the fries. I only got my fries much later, at the end of the meal.

My wife didn’t want to eat food that had already been touched. I’m not someone who usually writes bad reviews or any kind of reviews, but this just wasn’t okay. Very disappointing and it ruined our day.
