Resto Chez Mo-Nik

Resto Chez Mo-Nik is a cozy and casual local/neighborhood restaurant serving homemade-style breakfast/lunch.

The outside of the building does not prepare you for the surprising interior decor bursting with Coca-Cola paraphernalia, which gives the restaurant a very unique character. Although there are a few tables at the back, there is not a ton of seating in the front so you might have to wait to be seated. And to be served when it’s fully packed.

We were 2 having brunch on a Tuesday at 1pm, and the place was full but only waited 2 minutes to get a table.

The food was good. The menu has many options. The portions are decent and fairly priced. They offer an “Early Bird Breakfast” special from 6am to 8am, a lunch special from 11am to 2pm, and a kids (under 10 y.o.) menu for both breakfast and lunch.

The service was decent.

Street parking (free) is easy, right in front of the building.

Overall, I would not hesitate to go back and recommend.

The only good thing about this restaurant now is the decor. A nice coca cola theme that makes it feel like an old diner. But the food, omg.. how it has changed. The potatoes where raw, and they suggested the roast pork as a substitute and it was served cold, with the server saying it’s normal and was very rude when I asked for it to be voided and removed from my bill as it was very unpleasant and also undercooked. I have been a chef for 20 years and have never beens served cold roast pork and told it’s “normal” and that I basically don’t know nothing. The waitress which is what she is… has a terrible attitude and is unwelcoming.. do not go here simple as that

Our experience started off with us (a group of 5) waiting to be sat – as there were no tables over 4 available because they had put groups of 2 at all of those tables instead of utilizing the empty 2 tops! They seem to partake in nonsensical price gouging, for some reason they charge an extra dollar for breakfast after 11am (why? what reason?). Once our server came she sat down beside us to take our order, then basically told us what we were going to order. She did find the time to shout over us while we were ordering, and have a conversation with some other random patron.
The food took a very long time to come, over 30 minutes and it was not very busy.
But the worst part was yet to come, it was the inedible food. I have never seen such a sad excuse for a crepe in my life. I’m convinced they are those frozen pancakes you can get at Walmart – the only reason I believe they might not be is because they tasted far worse than the frozen ones!
The potatoes were inedible – ice cold inside, soggy, not cooked the whole way through at all, my family couldn’t even finish them. The only thing that was halfway decent was my son’s fries from the kids menu.
To top off our incredible experience, when my mother went to pay she was physically accosted by our server! She grabbed her hand exclaiming “why you no tip!?”, she was shouting in her face demanding an answer as to why! Because we had awful service and terrible food, that’s why! Once she took our order (sitting down, mind you) we never once saw her again. She didn’t once come by to check on us, or ask us how things were, or even refill our waters.
At the very least, the other staff were very friendly. But our tip would not have gone to them.

I truly don’t understand how this place has as many positive reviews as it does?! I would recommend spending your hard earned money on something much more worth it than this place; like flushing it down the toilet or shredding it.

Resto Chez Mo-Nik is a good place to have breakfast/brunch. When you enter the restaurant, you’ll immediately notice the Coca-Cola infused ambiance. If you like the ‘1950s diner ambiance,’ this the place for you. The portion servings are average. However, if you come super early, you’ll be able to order the ‘Early Bird Special.’ The service was decent. Street parking is easy, right in front of restaurant. Overall, Resto Chez Mo-Nik is a cozy and casual place to dine; an excellent place for an early breakfast.

When we walked in, it was wonderful looking at all the Coke Cola memorabilia. It was cool inside. We sat beside the window and the a/c was on. I didn’t mind. It wasn’t that busy. We ordered the same meal: the all meat meal. The portion size was good for the price. Very cool place to visit. I would return as it was a positive experience. 😀
