Amazonas Peruvian Restaurant

This is a small family owned Restaurant. I have been here 5 times, and each times I have been extremely satisfied. I would say it is my favorite place to go for a meal in Aylmer, ON. The food is simple, yet very tasty with an authentic South American flavor. The atmosphere is always nice, servers are kind and do not come to bother you at the table dozen of times asking if everything is good. Even when full with customers, it is fairly quiet and it’s possible to enjoy a conversation without being surrounded by loud people. Prices are very fair, in comparison to other restaurants, for the quality and quantity of food you receive. Don’t hesitate to give it a try.

I’m really disappointed with my recent order. We ordered several dishes, including the seafood Jalea, and were surprised by how little food we received. As shown in the picture, the portion had only three shrimp, three calamari rings, and a few small pieces of fish — definitely not what we expected.

I’ve ordered from here before and always enjoyed generous portions and great flavor, but this time the quantity was shockingly low. Even the ceviche came in a very small scoop compared to what it used to be.

For a total of $170, I was hoping for a pleasant and satisfying meal, but unfortunately, it was disappointing. I really hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and returns to the quality and portion sizes they were once known for.

The place looks very unassuming from the street – I am SO glad we finally tried it out!

UPDATE (from 3 to 4 stars) went back with my daughters and this time I could see improvements in terms of customer service and food presentation: they got rid of their plastic containers for sauce, and their food was excellent. Highly recommended.

Service quality depends on who is serving you, but the owner seems always very grumpy which breaks the vibe.

Food is really simple yet delicious. Sauces portions are served in plastic containers even if you eat there, which gives a cheap cafeteria vibe that is also not eco-friendly.

Prices are fair given quality and freshness or the products proposed.

🛑 DON’T TRY ANY OTHER PERUVIAN RESTAURANT 🛑 THIS IS THE PLACE YOU HAVE TO TRY! This place has authentic Peruvian flavours that you must try! Their ceviche is great! Very fresh and tasty. The Jalea de mariscos is crisp and very tangy with the a variety of seafood and read onion . Their Fish soup is to die for! A very unique experience for sure will please the palate! If you love spicy food ask for their hot sauce! Don’t expect fine dinning! This place is set in a house in the heart of Aylmer. But the taste of the food is what you go there to experience!
