Sterling

The place is simply amazing!!! Yes it is not cheap but not extremely expensive!!! Services is impressive and very friendly!! The facilities are clean and well maintained!! The ambiance is perfect and the top floor is the best place in the building for your private space and family gatherings!!! I spent $318 today for 3 adults no alcohol but you know something… it’s worth it!!!

Sterling is a restaurant worthy of its name. The exterior old-world mansion brings with it a touch of that haute couture vibe and feel.

The staff are the most professional and yet friendly staff that you can hope to be served by. They’re attentive to the point of clearing the appropriate silverware when that course has been served. Your water glass is always topped up, the bread basket will be topped up as well when required.

The food, in a word: delicious. Everything we ordered, beef tartar, seafood croquet, French onion soup, soup of the day, New York steak, filet mignon, Provencal rack of lamb and pistachio cheesecake were all amazing. The food was executed very well in the classic French gastronomy style. I’m sure Escoffier himself would be quite pleased with the meals.

You’d think my next comment would be that it’s wildly expensive, but honestly, for what we ordered and the size of the portions, I think that it was very reasonably priced. If you were to judge dining in the Ottawa-Gatineau area, for many years people told me that Sterling was the meter stick to measure against. I whole-heartedly understand why, their reputation is well earned.

Fantastic experience dining this evening at Sterling. Delicious meal, we both had the table hote, 4 course dinner. Our server, Shawn-Michael was terrific, professional and made us feel very welcome. We will be back!

Came by for dinner with high expectations which weren’t met. Dinner was nice but not exceptional.

Appetizers were surf and turf and grilled octopus and both were quite good. The mains were sirloin Oscar and the giant sea scallops (appetizer size). The sea scallops were good and the steak was nice but not superb. The potato mash with the steak was a little gummy. Ultimately the food was decent but didn’t meet the expectations of the prices they were charging.

Dessert was cheesecake which again was fine. For the price we expected exceptional food and that wasn’t the case.

The service was ok and the staff were pleasant but it didn’t feel like a particularly warm environment. We came away a little disappointed.

Not sure where to start!. This was quite an experience really . Everything about this place from the ambience to the food was amazing!
The view is spectacular (especially at sunset) and the service was wonderful. Shawn Michael was absolutely great.
We are from Ottawa and I don’t think that I have seen a waiter with such passion and kindness like Shawn. He was warm and knowledgeable. The dessert was incredibly yummy. Highly recommended.
