Zero service. I came by because they had good reviews but no one will come to greet me or show me the menu. I wanted to order egusi stew and pounded yam but the staff at mama kitchen completely ignored me.

Other staff from the other restaurants here greeted me, and I rang bell twice. They called for mama chop twice. I see their worker look at me but completely ignore me.

What kind of value or care for the customer is this? You could at least acknowledge I exist and if you are busy, say something, just let me know you will eventually get to me instead of ignoring me.

I never review anything but tried Mama’s Chop for the first time yesterday and had to speak up. The jollof rice, chicken and plantain combo was delicious and the pounded yam and ogbono soup were excellent as well! Everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful. I picked up my takeout order at the Ottawa location so it was not a sit down meal but the kitchen is shared by multiple restaurants and the atmosphere was nice with everyone appearing willing to help one another out. Highly recommend!

I visited the newly opened Mama’s Chop Restaurant in Gatineau last weekend with my family, and it was such a lovely experience. The space is beautiful – perfect for birthdays, small group hangouts, and even a cozy family meal.

They offer a variety of Nigerian and Cameroonian dishes. My husband and I had Afang soup with poundo yam, while the children enjoyed rice, chicken, and fried plantain. The portion sizes were generous, everything was delicious, and the presentation was nice. I especially loved the little starter they served – sliced bread with coleslaw and butter. It was such a thoughtful touch.

The service was warm and attentive. Overall, it was a really good experience, and I’d definitely recommend Mama’s Chop if you’re craving authentic Nigerian or Cameroonian cuisine.

I wasn’t feeling well and was craving a hearty soup. Our usual spot has a very spicy but delicious egusi, but they were out this time, so I decided to try Mamma Amala. Ordering was easy, even though I had a few questions—they answered them patiently. Once I placed my order, they told me I could come by right away and it would be ready.

Wasn’t feeling well and had a craving for some type of hearty soup. Our usual location has a very spicy but great tasting egusi. They were out this time so tried Mamma Amala. Ordering was a breeze even though I had a few questions. They answered and once I finally ordered, they told me I could come right arrive and it would be ready.

Sure enough, I arrived to a strange looking building in an area of the city that I’d never been. Suffice it to say I was very nervous and even more skeptical when I pulled up to the counter. It’s a shared counter/ front desk and although I knew the space was shared I hadn’t expected full what I encountered.

My food was brought to me promptly once I communicated to the folks at the Indian restaurant who first approached me ( their restaurant is closest to the door).

The food was very well packaged both to carry and to serve. There were 3-4 cuts of meat in each order and the consistency and flavor was good.
