TLDR: save your time, money & from being scammed on portion sizes – just beware if you’re ordering from here, especially if you’ve got guests or else be prepared to be humiliated. If you still decide to go then just keep on mind that the food is awesome, but the service is garbage.
Been to Mezbaan several times over the past few years (have done dine-in, pickup & delivery) & was always met with great food for the value, alongside of pleasant patrons. Saturday night was a different story & an off night possibly?
Placed an Uber pickup order for 6 tandoori chicken drumstick platters (these were on for a buy 1 get 1 free deal, nonetheless it was for a total of 6 platters which one would think they’d get what they’d ordered), then for easier pickup we called the restaurant to see if they can accommodate putting all the chicken into 1 big tray & all the rice into another big tray which they said they’re able to do this (I called & asked them this same thing prior to placing the order as well). We get to the restaurant, pickup our order & head home. Keep in mind that the supposed restaurant owner was at cash when we ask if they were able to pack the chicken & rice separately, to which this lady makes a face & says yeah we usually don’t, but we did. Once we opened up the rice tray we are greatly disappointed seeing that the portions do not seem to match the quantity that we’d ordered (so humiliating in front of the guests that this was meant to serve) – it filled literally 3 of the takeout boxes that they’d usually pack 1 platter in. We then called the restaurant & expressed our concerns (not very happy that I have to go back, could’ve been avoided had they’d been more honest & ethical) & they said they’d be able to give us another tray of rice. We get there & the supposed owner of the restaurant is at cash again & waving a menu & asking us if we’re dining in or picking up. I let her know that I’m the one who called (not causing a commotion or doing anything else to avoid embarrassing her), she hands me the tray of rice & tells me she’s doing me favour – like excuse me what?! I then proceed to show her the pictures we took to prove our claims which she wasn’t interested in, but we still showed them to her. The attitude & lack of customer service here is appalling, like yes we were given what we should’ve received in the first place so why & how on earth would that classify as a favour?
It sucks that the food is so good, but the service is so poor. We now know where to not be going, wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone anymore unfortunately.
