I try to be an environmentally conscious consumer and discovered Nu Grocery by accident after googling somewhere to fill my mason jars with dish soap, hand soap or shampoo.. imagine my surprise when I walked into Nu Grocery!! This was my first time at a zero waste grocery store.
I got goosebumps as I walked into their bright, clean store with large, sunny windows and beautiful wooden displays that had everything from vegetables and fruit to toiletries. Like at a Farmer’s Market, I’ve always wished to grocery shop this way but assumed nowhere did anything like this anymore. I weighed and marked my jars before filling them with the yummy smelling soaps and then picked up some fruit, veggies, eggs, milk, cream and even some delicious cookies. On my next visit I deposited my milk and cream jars and got more dairy and also got laundry strips. It feels so good to shop this way and I’m so glad I found this location.
The staff are all wonderful and they’re very happy to help you out if you have questions. Their website is great and has a lot of information on what they have in store or for delivery and I learned that the store is also Living Wage certified which is awesome. The store’s price point is quite reasonable and I have always thought that when able to we should be willing to pay a bit more for better quality, locally sourced products while helping the environment in any way we can.
If you have a chance, bring your bags and do your part in being a better consumer and check out Nu Grocery on Main Street. You’ll be happy you did.
