Tavern on the Island

Great views on the island of the Ottawa River.
These chain of Tavern on the Island, on the Hill, At the Falls have the same service format. You order at the bar and carry your drinks to the table and they bring you your food order. Of the 3 taverns we visited I would recommend this one on the Island, then the one called Tavern at the Falls, pictures of the one by the Falls are the last few I posted.

What a great spot to go and hang out! Good was great and the atmosphere relaxing. Spent 5 hours with friends and highly recommend!

Such an amazing place to seat and enjoy the nature. Perfect for any size group to come and enjoy this spot plus the food was delicious. We went for fries and old fashioned burger; it was really good.

If you are riding bike nearby and just want to enjoy some food; this place is simply the perfect spot.

This place has one of the nicest views in the city.

Comfortable seating. A very large and spacious patio. Limited but good drink selection. Fun outdoor games (ping pong, Connect 4 and Bean Bag Toss).

Super relaxing, family-friendly, and perfect at sunset!

Tavern on the Island is such a hidden gem in Ottawa! The space is open and beautifully set up — perfect for kids to roam freely while adults unwind. The giant outdoor games are a fun touch, and the whole atmosphere is super relaxed and welcoming.

The food hits the spot with tasty hotdogs and burgers, and there’s a great variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It’s the ideal mix for a laid-back afternoon or early evening out.

What makes it truly special is the setting — with direct access to the river and stunning views, it’s absolutely perfect at sunset. Sitting by the water with a drink in hand while the kids play nearby… you really can’t beat it.

There are porta-potties available on-site — basic but convenient when you’re out with little ones.

Highly recommend for families, groups of friends, or anyone looking to enjoy Ottawa in a beautiful, chilled-out setting. We’ll definitely be back!
