Mr. B’s Osteria

We stumbled upon Mr. B’s Osteria by total accident while searching for Italian food, and what a find! Tucked away in a strip mall, and curiously missing from the mall’s outside signage, this place is a true “hidden gem.” From the moment we stepped inside, we were struck by the excellent decor and warm atmosphere.

The service was absolutely wonderful, and the food was even better. I highly recommend the Manicotti, though all four of our entrees were delicious. Also, don’t skip the bread; it’s served warm and is simply excellent.

It turns out they have been around for a long time, and while they don’t seem to advertise much, the packed dining room proves their “word-of-mouth” reputation is working extremely well. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner so special. We have already started telling others about this place and have already planned two more visits with others.

This was my first time going to Mr. B’s and I’m happy to say the food was very good. I really enjoyed the pasta I ordered, the scallops and clams tasted very fresh. The larger shrimp were more appealing than the small shrimp that are included in this dish. It would be nice if servers provided a small bowl to put shells in if you’re ordering this particular dish. The bread was also very good.

Speaking of the servers, our server was not very nice. She was very short with us and not friendly at all. She rushed through the explanation of the specials – of which there are way too many to remember while going through them. She also did not seem patient at all and made me feel like I had to rush my order. She was already walking away while asking what kind of sauce I wanted with my pasta.

The atmosphere was alright. It wasn’t too loud but there were many empty tables last night. We were sat at a table for 2, which was placed along the wall. I really despise tables where the guests are both alongside the wall because it can be annoying to move around while eating when you’re pressed up to the wall. I’m sure this was to create more room in the restaurant but there are plenty of other restaurants that make seating work for tables for two.

Overall, I’d go back and recommend Mr. B’s because of the quality of the food. However, I would definitely mention the negatives as well so that any guests know exactly what they might experience here.

A group of friends chose this restaurant for a special occasion. The restaurant was very busy and thus very noisy, uncomfortably so.
The food was really quite good. No one had any complaint about the presentation, variety or flavour of the food. And the bread was fantastic!!
The server, however, was not good at all. Were they short staffed and she had extra tables?! Maybe. She was quite brusque in taking food and drink orders. Upon delivery of these items, she would plunk them down unpleasantly on the table. Everyone at our table noticed this behavior. And the fellow who cleared up at the end, started to clear dishes away while people were still eating. (Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry?).
Would I return? Sure. Food was terrific. This is not my first visit to this establishment and it probably won’t be my last.
Would I share the story about the service? Yup.
In short – go for the food (and the bread!). You’ll be glad you did.

My dinner experience at Mr. B’s Osteria, situated at 2446 Bank Street, was truly delightful. We began with a serving of fried zucchini, after which I savored the fettuccine with salmon, accompanied by a dill cream sauce, and appreciated the freshness of the pasta. FMu husband choice was the chicken Marsala, and we concluded with Tiramisu. The service provided by our server, Adrianna, was outstanding, and I strongly recommend Mr. B’s Osteria.

Our regular Friday afternoon get-away. Absolutely delicious and top quality choices. My favourite dish is the Fettuccine Fruitti Di Mari. Pasta is made inhouse. A fantastic seafood medley in a delicious rose sauce. Go in hungry and come out very happy and satisfied.
