Damas Supermarket (Halal)

I had a very disappointing experience with this store. They sell expired meat and household items. I bought yogurt that turned out to be expired. When I went back to return it, I had the receipt with me, yet the owner tried to avoid responsibility and even accused me of not buying it from his shop.
He made up false excuses and was extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of respecting customers and taking responsibility, he chose to argue and deny the issue. I do not recommend this place at all due to poor customer service and lack of honesty.

The best butcher shop in town with consistently fresh, high-quality meat. Mr. Sufi is a superstar always helpful, welcoming and provides amazing customer service. A fantastic place for groceries. Highly recommended!

Watch out for spoiled meat. Bought lamb ribs from them. Asked the lady if it was fresh. She laughed and said of course! I got home, opened the packs and they all smelled bad. Even the dog refused to come close to that meat. I thought ok..maybe that’s just stale blood, so I soaked them in very salty water and then kept in salt overnight as well making sure all moisture comes out. When I tried to cook the meat, it smelled as if the animal died a month ago. I had to throw away almost $70 worth of meat.

Just bought these today. 2 bags of tea and both are expired (one of them since 2024). Lots of expired products on the shelves, no price tags, if you want to know the price you have to check with cashier every item.

You can also might be surprised at the cash bc they have different prices at the system and price tags you see on the shelves. I told them before about price tags and expired products but I guess they just don’t care.

I’m driving 30 minutes from Gatineau to get there and that’s what we got in the of the day. Now I have to drive back to return them.

I already submitted complain to food inspection with these proofs. I don’t wanna waste my time, gas and money to drive back every time after shopped there.

Will never come again and don’t recommend to anyone.

I don’t understand why Damas continues to keep this butcher, Soufi. Over the years, I’ve noticed his consistently rude behavior and poor attitude toward customers.

Today, he even threw the meat from the scale toward a lady — completely unacceptable!
When I mentioned it to the cashier, they just smirked and said, “He’s always angry; we’re tired of him too.”

This kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated in any business that values its customers.
