If youβre looking for a solid gluten-free breakfast in Ottawa, Zakβs is a great find. I ended up eating here twice during the week, which is usually the best sign a place is doing something right.
The surprise highlight was the gluten-free toastβhonestly some of the best Iβve had. Most GF bread feels like edible cardboard, but this was actually good. The breakfasts are classic diner style: big plates, lots of potatoes, eggs cooked properly, and sausages that mean business.
The diner itself has a fun retro vibe: booths, old-school lighting, and even a Mustang front-end turned into a counter. It feels like the kind of place where breakfast has been taken seriously for decades.
Staff were friendly and quick, portions were generous, and itβs right in the heart of ByWard Market. If youβre gluten-free and wondering where to get a proper breakfast in Ottawa, start here.
