Daldongnae Korean BBQ – Byward Market

Cute ambience and yummy food. The sauces for the meat are INCREDIBLE. A lot of sides come with the meat and there are basically unlimited refills within reason. Kind of pricey in my opinion though—I feel like I’ve eaten the same quality of food or better for cheaper. Additionally, we were seated at a small table and the oil from the grill often splattered onto our faces and into our water cups.

Very cool spot! We are vegan and went specifically for the vegan BBQ set. Important notes for vegans: while the vegetables, tofu and beyond sausage that you receive to grl are fully vegan, the sides that come with a BBQ order are not. This is unclear on the menu. The grills are small and surrounded by egg (served raw and then cooks on the grill) and cheesy corn). Ask beforehand for these not to be served and seek information on which of the other side/sauces are (or are not) vegan.

Despite this, tasty food! The vegan BBQ set is more than enough food, we ordered a side of mushrooms and it was way too much (although you can bring leftovers home).

The place has a cool ambiance but a bit over stimulating with the loud k-pop, the warmth from the grills and all the food.

I went to Daldongnae Korean BBQ a few days ago and the food was seriously amazing. Huge shoutout to Hyunwo Park for the incredible service. I’ve been working in the food industry for about 10 years, and honestly, I never felt this well taken care of by a server before. He explained everything clearly and patiently, which made the whole experience super comfortable and enjoyable. The food was also top notch the meat was incredibly tender, everything tasted fresh. Definitely one of the best Korean BBQ experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend.

This was the first Korean bbq spot I’ve been to in Ottawa and I was quite impressed. Their banchans and the various cuts of meat were in par with Korean bbq spots in other cities with more Korean population. My gf and I had a bowl of cold noodles, a bowl of rice, pork jowl, and garibi? Cut (beef). At first, I thought that wouldn’t be enough food (I was very hungry) but I’m glad we stopped there lol. The side dishes and the soup and the noodles hit the spot for me. The food was great. The meat cuts were fresh and the broth in the cold noodle was seasoned well. Service was great too. The server knew their cuts and i got more lettuce when i asked for more with no discontent look lol. Definitely had to go for a walk afterwards cuz I was going into food coma. Will come back if I feel like Korean food / Korean bbq. Too bad it’s a bit far from Orleans otherwise id be here more often. Anyway. Glad i found a good Korean spot.

Our server told me there’s a new menu called LA Kalbi. We tried it and it was really good! I think it’s the best marinated beef. It’s sweet and soft. Tteokbokki was really good too with a bit of spiciness and shrimp was very juciy. Highly recommend the LA Kalbi.

Honestly, this is the best Korean BBQ restaurant I’ve been to. I’ve tried Korean food in so many cities, but it’s really hard to find a place that feels this genuinely Korean from the flavors to the vibe.
The food tasted just like real Korean style BBQ, and the interior had that nostalgic, old-Korea charm that made the whole experience even cozier. Plus, the staff were friendly, which made everything even better.
I seriously want to recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Korean BBQ. It was insanely good.

We had a really great experience here! I absolutely loved the atmosphere — it has a warm wooden design that gave me the feeling of those old Korean movies I’ve seen. The vibe was so cozy and inviting.

I also tried a very unique cocktail that had ice cream in it, and I really enjoyed the taste، it was something special
The only downside for me was the meat menu. I think it could be improved by adding more variety of marinated meats and perhaps providing seasonings, like salt and spices, on the side so customers can adjust the flavor to their liking.
